Release Note: Assigning work to accounts v1.0
Release Date: Jun 01, 2019
You may have noticed a new tab on the Item Form labeled Users. It’s the first step in a soon-to-be-released Workspace feature!
The new Users tab permits you to assign one or more of your Workspace’s User IDs (i.e., accounts that are usually a person’s email address) to an item. The User IDs will also be displayed on the Details tab (see below). Also, an icon and number are displayed on an item’s tile in a group’s Wall View (see below left) if User IDs have been assigned to that item. Placing your mouse over the icon displays the individual User IDs (i.e., email addresses) of those assigned to that item.
If there are no User IDs assigned to an item, the icon will not be displayed on an item’s tile.
This is a step towards a powerful Workspace feature that allows admins to build task lists for employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and anyone else with access to the Workspace. This is foundational for upcoming reporting features and also the ability to initiate, receive, and tie communications to the pieces of work they pertain to.
What the heck does this all mean?
- Workspace admins and users can quickly assign work and see who has been assigned to specific work.
- Employees, subcontractors, or anyone else with read-only account access will be able to view only the work that has been assigned to them.
- Workspace admins and users will be able to initiate and receive communications all within the Workspace.
- All of these communications will be automatically tracked and organized around the item.
This helps to consolidate key communications around the work that it pertains to. No longer will you have to search through emails, text threads, or remember what was said in a phone call weeks ago. Everything will be in one place and easily accessible by those that need to see it!
